Manage JPEG, PNG Images in Web Development

Manage JPEG, PNG Images in Web Development
Images are an important element of the web content. To ensure a perfect display of images on a target device, the developers need to follow a set pattern, since they have a very less control over it. The stipulated standard of managing images while developing web pages are listed below:
Managing Background Images and Colors:
To obtain an unbeaten display, there are a few specifications for using colors and background. The suggestions for these are as follows:
· The developers need to use RGB specifications to receive document colors. By doing so, they can use any legal markup for deciding the color of the document.
· A strong contrast in the colors of background and texts should be present. Conforming to the W3C’s accessibility guidelines should be avoided, i.e. dark-on-light and light-on-dark. The favored contrast should have text colors on corresponding background colors. It meets the requirements to cater for a monochromatic display. Also color blind people can view it without any hindrance.
· If images are used in the background, they are proposed to be small and the color analogous with the specified background color.
· It suggested avoiding catchy images on background of textual information.
Managing Images
Images need to be inserted in the content to give your document a complete look. It adds on to the content, giving it a better appeal. But the custom needs to be followed here as well. Before inserting any images, please take a not of the following:
· Always remember that image should complement the text. They should never be a substitute to it. For example, diagrams, graphs and geographic maps are appropriately complementary to textual descriptions, while, in contrast, content of decorated texts and imagery of maps are used to decipher the actual message of the text in the most inappropriate manner.
· To conform to W3C’s guidelines for ensuring accessibility to web for all, every image should have a textual description.
· Alternative texts to describe hyperlinks have the same syntax as that of the images. The alternative texts should be descriptive enough to convey why the link has been built. W3C’s guidelines suggest having a brief description of such links. They have also valued texts alternative to “Search”, “Home”, “Previous” and “Next”.
· Document text adjacent to ALT texts should not be duplicated.
· Warning of oversized image with ALT text is advised.
· If ALT texts for images maps do not take readers to a separate toolbar, then syntax can run as blank.
· When images maps are used, then alternative means of navigation should also be made available to the readers.
· If the images fail to input height and width features they may lose browser facility.
